Bits and Bytes: Picture Book Marathon

You may have heard that November is National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo), but did you know that February is Picture Book Marathon month? It's true. Find all the details here:

What's the point of a picture book marathon? Glad you asked.
- Generate a lot of material in a short amount of time.
- Get your creative juices flowing by forcing yourself to write daily.
- Circumvent your internal naysayers - they either won’t have time to criticize, or they’ll be too tired.
- Practice a writing practice.

The goal of the picture book marathon is to write a picture book (first draft) once each day of the month of February until you get to 26. This year, February has 29 days (thus, Take the Leap!), so you get a bonus break day.

They even provide creative exercises to help you think of ideas for picture books. So even if you can't quite maintain the pace (hey, some people do walking marathons), you'll end up with a lot of great new ideas. Last years "training" exercises are found here:

So who's up for a picture book marathon? For the win!
